Peplum Tops

The peplum style rose to popularity in the 1940’s and is an iconic 20th Century fashion piece. As with many fashion trends, the peplum style has returned to our high streets and has been replicated and re-created in modern day designs.

Originally, the peplum was formed as part of structured blouses, creating a lovely hourglass silhouette. The peplum style was re-vamped in the 1980’s to create peplum dresses, the hem line was dropped and the frill sat lower on the body and is recognised as an iconic fashion trend of the 80’s.

In 2012, the peplum returned to style again and the peplum top rose in popularity. The peplum top is a diverse piece that can be worn for various occasions, from nights out to formal events as it can be dressed up or down. The flattering structure of peplum tops make them a must have item for ladies of all shapes and sizes as it creates smooth curves and enhances the natural feminine shape. Last year, Angelina Jolie wowed the crowd in a beautiful white peplum dress at the World War Z premiere in Berlin.
